Jets & Giants Headed Into NFL Week 5

Sooo, where were we? Oh. The Giants despite being cursed by the blair witch and sustaining numerous injuries have fought and clawed their way to a 3-1 record thus far. How the hell did they do it? Beats the hell outta me, all I know is that it looks like they're proving they still have the mettle that made them champions in the first place.

Meanwhile the Jets got some work to do. 2-2 is not the end of the world but losing two straight, playing a very sloppy game like the one in Baltimore, AND not having the running game on track signals a rough road ahead especially when you consider a 3-1 Patriot team is playing host in week five.

The Giant's got smart and decided that despite signing Mark Peyton or Clayton...whatever his name is, they decided he sucks and gave all the action to Victor Cruz of pre season fame and highlights. You might remember him from last years pre season when he torched the Jets secondary for a number of game breaker catches. He was still cut by the G-men (don't ask me why, seemed stupid to me) but his performance made an impression so much so that not only did he get Hixon's snaps but he got a temp starting job in week 3 taking over for Manningham due to concussion. I don't know what will happen once Manningham is 100% but the Giants seem to have the offense back on track headed into what should be an easy W in Seattle for week 5.

Crucial injuries usually test the greatness of head coaches and their abilities to get creative and think on the fly. Sometimes there is just really nothing you can do and other times, the team will be prepared either way and manage to somehow pick up the win. After giving up a game at Oakland by getting run over literally by The DMC, the Jets offense faced it's second game without center Nick Mangold and took it's second loss of the season. Colin Baxter subbed in for Nick but seemed ....what's the word? Useless. Yes, he seemed pretty useless against the Ravens pass rush. I don't think it's an indictment against him as a player with potential but the guy is young and clearly was not ready fa a defense as stern as the Ravens'.

Now the Jets face the Pats in week 5 and it aint lookin easy. Mangold will most likely be ready for the matchup after sitting out two weeks but the Jets need their offense to click and be able to put up points and/or control the ball because despite Brady's willingness to embrace prison rape if ever convicted of felonious dick sucking,  his  passing numbers are getting stupid ridiculous right now. The Jets really need to pick things up a notch before they find themselves free falling in the midst of a 3 game losing streak with too many questions and not enough answers.
