Jets/Giants Week 2 Look Ahead

The Giants need to get healthy and the guys who are healthy need to play better. Eli isn't a "great" QB but he is very good...he just can't do it alone.

Granted the lock out made for a weird off season but that line while not terrible should have been re-bolstered. This Monday on live TV they face a St. Louis squad that's banged up just as much at this point. Spags is probably looking to make his mark though, so the G-men cannot fall asleep at the wheel. The key to beating the Rams will be getting Manning the time to pick apart that depleted Ram's secondary. Coincidentally, If I were Spags I'd be plotting to do the same thing to the Giant's secondary. The big difference however, is that Giants still have a few more healthy offensive weapons at their disposal than the Rams do. As of now, Whichever QB is under center for the Ram's can't just rely on the injured Stephen Jackson and throw it back like Serena's ass. I'm expecting the Giants to take this one...by alot.

The Jets fresh off winning a thriller of  a game in Dallas will be playing Jacksonville. The Jags saaay there gonna rest up Maurice Jone Drew but if he starts killing the Jets the way he did a season ago I think that goes out the window and they put him to work like an infant with a baby mop. Much like most of this season, all eyes will be on Sanchez this game. The dude is in more than enough commercials, which I won't knock him for until he starts endorsing Uggs but he needs to play well consistently.  Where as Eli Manning has evolved into a dependable quarterback that makes efficient use of weapons (when he has them) Sanchez is still influenced by his growing pains. The good news is that this team has enough tools in all three phases of the game to pull out a collective win even if Sanchez is playing bad. The bad news is Sanchez occasionally goes from good, to bad, to disastrous. When this happens, aint enough tools in all the toolboxes on this planet that can help the Jets win. To his credit, Sanchez does handle the pressure very well. I see this as an ugly game on all sides with the Jets winning a low scoring close game. To do this they need to stack the box and contain the Jaguar's backfield. Won't be easy, but it's possible since as the air attack from the Jags should be abysmal. Mike Thomas is probably their best and arguably only threat in that regard and he can't really throw the ball to himself sooo as long as the Jets stay aggressive on both sides of the ball and play field position they got this.
